Comprehension
Effective readers construct meaning from the text. Readers must be engaged in the reading process and use strategies before, during, and after reading. A strategy is a way of doing something. Learning to read is a process. Research indicates that it is developmentally appropriate for children to learn to read between kindergarten and third grade. Learning to read is probably the most difficult task our brain needs to accomplish.

Make Connections - Connections made while reading.
